NaNoWriMo Starts Today! Ready, Set, WRITE!!!

Today is the first day of NaNoWriMo and I couldn't be more excited and nervous all at once. I've got my story plotted out and I've got my writing time scheduled out. I have a title (If Only We) and the genre (Young Adult and Youth). I'm working on a synopsis still. I can't wait to get started actually writing. It's so hard not to start writing while you're plotting.

I want to know who else is joining in on the fun of NaNoWriMo this year. Feel free to add me as a friend on there. My username is onlyminordetails. I welcome any and all encouragement and will definitely do the same for you! (Btw, check out this forum thread, very awesome quotes--I'm a quote lover.)

I'm hoping my work schedule won't interfere with my writing schedule. I'm also hoping to squeeze in some reading. Don't want to get too far behind on that. Maybe I'll read a book on writing this month. I've been meaning to read Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott.

In the midst of my planning out my novel, I decided to figure out the word counts I need per day to make sure I'm on track. We all know it's about 1667 words per day. With my list, you can see how far ahead or behind you are each day and plan accordingly for extra time if needed. I felt it would be a good idea to share it with all my fellow NaNoWriMo friends in case they want to do the same. (in picture to print and text form to copy/paste)

I'd like to share your thoughts and link up your sites to them. If anyone is interested, please let me know via email (impulsivities [at] gmail [dot] com) or in a comment.

  1. Jessica, you are a lifesaver. I'm going to print this off and keep it beside my computer as a reminder and a motivator. I'm hoping to get well ahead in the writing and plotting stakes because the weekend is going to be busy with my sisters wedding so no time to write at all! I'm very interested in your post NaNo post idea. You know where to reach me. Good luck and I'll check back in soon.

  2. Good luck Jessica! That calendar is super helpful, I will be printing it out and putting it in my outline notebook! I stayed up super late last night so I could start writing and will be getting some more done today, I hope to get a couple days ahead for a little cushion!

Angie: You really did get way ahead of the game! I ended up staying up late and getting started last night, which made me feel a little better. :)
