You want it? It's yours, my friend. As long as you have enough rupies.

You know I'm a nerd when I start quoting things from old Zelda games. I believe I'm a little slap happy at the moment, dearies. I was up until after 3 AM last night (which is Friday night) and slept in until 11:39 AM (today, Saturday). I was writing and reading, since I couldn't clean my room or else I'd wake my mom up.

ANYWAYS. That is not the point of this article. The point is something entirely different.

It all starts with giveaways. I love giveaways. I love when my fellow bloggers run giveaways. Almost everything about the giveaways is epic awesomeness. Except for one thing... Often, a lot of these giveaways feature new releases. And when they feature new releases, you can't help but enter. Chance to win a new release in a giveaway? HECK YEAH! None of us can avoid the temptation. Little do we know we have now fallen into a trap.

A trap? Whatever do you mean, Jessica?

The "I have to wait until this giveaway ends to know if I've won the book or not so I know whether I can place an order for this book" trap. You know you've been there. Waiting on the edge of your seat. Counting down the days until a giveaway ends. Sometimes you can't remember how many giveaways you entered or on which blogs so you can't find all the links to figure out when they all end so you know when you haven't won. And it's a flipping book you've been wanting FOREVER and counting down the days until it gets released so that you can finally hold it's beauty in your hands and hug it to your chest with delight. Which makes you so antsy that you're bouncing around in your chair at the computer with a cart full of books on Barnes & Noble staring you in the face, saying, "Buy me... buy me... BUY ME!!!"

And then you yell out, "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!" and close the tab.

*sigh* Time to calm down.

It seems like a never-ending battle. I suppose owning two copies of the same book wouldn't hurt. I mean, I could let a friend borrow it. Or I could offer it in a giveaway of my own... and let somebody else suffer through the torture of WAITING. Mua-ha-ha...

But for now, I'm going to be good and wait. I don't need these books immediately anyway. Waiting another week or so won't hurt. Plus, my checking account might thank me.

How about you?

Have you ever been there before? What do you do? Do you suffer through endless days patiently or do you freak out? Do you place orders even when you're waiting on giveaways to end for the same books? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I'm not very lucky when it comes to contests so I just assume I haven't won and buy the book and I have no patience. Since I rarely win anything this works out fine for me! (BTW I'm having a contest right now of mostly older books, some new - there's choice) Stop by and enter if you haven't yet!

    1. It wasn't until I became a book blogger that I actually won a few things. Since it's been awhile since I won something, I keep getting this feeling that I'm bound to win one very soon. Lol. :P

  2. i prefer to wait and see if i win. Now that's not easy even worse when there a promotion but it's nearly my only opportunity to discover new books. I so way behind and there are so difficult to buy in shop here ( the books are only the more sold and there are here only what 6/8month after the publication date even when you preorder ç_ç) thansk to these contest even when i don't win ( very often^^;;) i discover new book that i can too my wish list and hope to have one day ( i can be obstinated, i did more than 50contest to have half-blood ^^;; but i did win it in the end)

    1. I can see why you like to wait to see, that's gotta be hard to have to wait so long to get books available. Wow, that's dedication to enter that many contests for the book. :O

  3. First of all, I love the LOL Cats picture!
I don't enter giveaways because I swear I never win and it just saddens me. Sounds like I'm only missing out on some serious stress.

    1. I love it too. :D I used to not like entering them pre-blogging because I would never win. Since I started blogging I've won several contests, so I have higher hopes, especially with as many as I enter at once. But, yes... so much frustration. I think I'm gonna just cave in and buy them anyways!
