Update Thursday #63

Welcome to Update Thursday, my own personal meme of sorts where I post an update of the goings on at my blog, with reading, with writing, and beyond. Feel free to borrow the idea from me for your own bookish musings.

Writing...

~ If Only We ~ 23,925 ~
~ Before We Knew ~ 11, 449 ~
~ Whatever This Is ~ outlining ~

I'm getting somewhere. I was hoping to be at 25,000 by this week, but I'll still take it. I'll break that by next week, and hopefully more.

I read a good reminder last night on The Feather And The Rose about getting serious about revisions. It's so easy to get distracted with things, ANYTHING, and not write/revise. I've been super busy lately, but I know there are plenty of things I've been doing that are not worthwhile uses of my free time that could be much better spent working on my novel.

Otherwise...

This is fangirling at it's best.
You guys read my article on Nathan Fillion and books, right? IF NOT YOU NEED TO RIGHT NOW. I got myself a copy of the Nathan Fillion issue of Parade. See happy girl in picture.

I've got a plan to go to the zoo in a couple weeks. I am SO SO SO SO SO excited to go. I go probably once a year. Last year, I went in the beginning of July. It was a typical day at the zoo with all the same animals I'd always seen... I find out a couple days later that my zoo (The Toledo Zoo) got LEMURS. Two beautiful ring-tailed lemurs. What's the big deal?

I FREAKING LOVE LEMURS.

They came from the Duke Lemur Center in North Carolina so that they can have babies... and they did have babies. AND THE BABIES ARE ADORABLE. As you can see. Well, all lemurs are adorable. Every time I look at them, I want to just drop my current career path and go to school so I can take care of them for a living. It's still one of my dreams to own a lemur. I just need to find a state that will let me have one because I'm pretty sure Ohio's laws have changed in the last year.

So anyways. Expect some pictures. And infinite SQUEE-ing when I get back from the zoo. ^_^

Until next time...

~Jessica

PS: Could this update BE any better? I mean, Nathan Fillion AND lemurs?! I think I'm in heaven.

  1. LOL! This makes me giggle. I like lemurs but not that much. I can relate, however. I LOVE Anteaters. I want to own one! I even dreamed I did once. He was so cute! ;)

  2. Gah! I love Lemurs too! I actually considered becoming a vet at one point in my life so that I could work at a zoo with lemurs and red pandas and otters (my other favourite animals!)...but then I realized that I would have to take science classes to be a vet so that dream was quickly thrown out the window lol! Nice update!

    1. I wanted to be a vet assistant once, but couldn't take the sad aspects of it (sick animals, putting them down, etc.) so I didn't do it. And you're right--all the science classes, ugh! :P

  4. Ohio's big enough that no one would know if you had a lemur!

  5. Nathan Fillion and lemurs lol. I might have to look for a copy of the magazine too so I can refer to it...again and again and again, and not just online! I finally have season 2 of Castle waiting for me at the library, so I'm excited to start that this week. I haven't done ANY writing or started my revisions since finishing book 2 last week, but I figured a short break is probably a good thing before I dive into the time-consuming and exhausting process of revising. I was going to start today, but...yeah, not so much lol. The day is still young, though! Keep up the good work! <3

    1. Hehehe, I could always scan it, email it to you, and you can print it out. ;) Oh, you'll love season 2! I'm in the middle of going thru it with my best friend. I've got her addicted. I think it is a good idea to step away from the book for a little bit and come back fresh and ready to go. Thank you! :D

    2. Ooh, that would be great! I get so infrequently that I'd probably miss picking it up lol. Thanks, love! I think I'm going to start watching season 2 tonight. And hooray for Castle converts! ;-)
