Update Thursday #65

Welcome to Update Thursday, my own personal meme of sorts where I post an update of the goings on at my blog, with reading, with writing, and beyond. Feel free to borrow the idea from me for your own bookish musings.

On the Blog this week:

  • The indie author panel tackles Cover Art in the fourth installment of my blog post series, The Journey of Self Publishing
  • My review of A.M. Hargrove's Resurrection, the sequel to Survival.
  • What I've learned during my writing and revising: I am insane.
  • I also review Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally.

Reading...

Books I finished this week:

Books I'm reading now (and some still):

Writing...

~ If Only We ~ 27,921 ~
~ Before We Knew ~ 11, 449 ~
~ Whatever This Is ~ outlining ~

I was hoping to reach the 30,000 word mark, but no such luck. 1,000 words in one week is good enough for now! I had a new idea come up out of nowhere this week, which has me giddy with excitement. And a couple of my other WIP stories have been popping into my head lately. I think it's my brain telling me I need to figure out titles for them ALL so that I can keep track of those like I am the three I have listed above.

Otherwise...

Sooo... I went to the zoo yesterday!!! And saw the lemurs! I took literally 80 pictures of them. EIGHTY. If I could have sat there watching them all day, I would have. I will be putting together a little zoo post early next month, but in the meantime, here's a picture to hold you over ----->

Can you say SQUEEEEE?!?! Because I almost did while I was there. I actually almost teared up. It's just so amazing for me to finally see them after all these years of loving them. I also got myself a couple lemur plushies... and next time I go there's one more I need to buy. Teeheehee! I am such a child at heart!

Until next time!

PS: I'll be working on getting that survey for my followers together as soon as I can. I started to work on it and my mind just wasn't focusing at the time as to what I wanted to ask. So, I'm writing out a list. I'm hoping to have it out around the time I put together a "halfway through the year" post. ^_^

  1. Don't you just love that rush of excitement when a new story idea pops into your head? Or when you come up with a solution to a plot hole that's been driving you insane? I'm so glad you've had a great writing week. Coming up with ideas makes up for lack of writing any day (despite what other people will tell you IMO!)

I still don't know how I feel about zoos. It's something I've been trying to reconcile with myself forever! I love visiting them but they always make me sad. The lemurs look like they're up to something!

    1. I live for that rush. :) I think it does make up for my slacking off. Anything that inspires more writing is a win to me!

I've had mixed emotions about zoos myself. But I hate the circus more. It's one thing to cage animals for the sake of preserving them (which most zoos are trying to do, and why the lemurs came to my zoo in the first place), it's another thing to exploit them with performing. They were up to something at that point of the day!

  2. LEMURS! Argh, they are so cute. Lemur plushies are a win.

Congrats on a good writing week! Getting new ideas is always great...just don't forget them, lol.

    1. They were a win! And thanks! I'm trying to jot every thought on the plot that I can--I keep changing my mind. :P

  3. LOL! The first time I got to see a anteater in person I just about lost it. I took tons of pictures and videos and sat there for like an hour just staring at it.

    1. You know, now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen an anteater myself. But, yes, you can't help but want to stay there forever! I may spend a day in that section sometime. :)

  4. *SIGH* I STILL need to read Survival.

I want to go back to the zoo. I love ALL the animals but I adore the elephants and giraffes. :D

  5. Yay lemurs! I felt the same way when I saw penguins for the first time. I just stared and stared and kinda got spazzy-excited like a little kid lol. And because I was WITH little kids (then-8-year-old nephew, plus friend's daughter), alas I couldn't spend all day watching them swim around and sunning on rocks. Someday.
I see you got For Darkness Shows the Stars! I can't wait to see what you think of it. xo

    1. Yeah, I was with a group too, so we had to move on to other areas. I know I will be back there just watching them for hours. I took some penguin pictures too, so I'll post those for you! :)

YES! I couldn't help myself. It was my splurge for the month. ;)
