Scarlet Read-Along: First Impressions

Welcome to the Scarlet Read-Along!

Marie at Ramblings of a Daydreamer and I are proud to present this read-along event to you.

Today we are going to discuss our first impressions of Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen. Our first assignment in the read-along was to read the first chapter. Please link up your post in the comments below so I can read and discuss the book with you too!

First Impressions...

I read some reviews over the months prior to purchasing this book. In several of them, they spoke of the voice being realistic to the time period and the story. I agree with them there! It really draws you into the world. Not only that, but I'm already feeling the pull into the lives of these characters. And it's just the first chapter! Our protagonist, Scarlet, feels like the rebellious, stubborn side of me and I like that. A lot.

I won't go on forever about this though, I think I've made my point. ;)

  1. I'm glad you're enjoying it too! I had read a few reviews that mentioned that too, and a few people said it was too hard to understand, but I'm not having trouble, I actually like it because it's completely different from anything else. I can tell I'm going to love Scarlet...I love how she started to eat then slipped out under the table...that made me laugh.

  2. The first chapter was a great read. I really like Scarlet's voice. Being from the UK makes it easier for me to understand, though! But it's nicely authentic.
