Gilmore Girls Mondays (1)

Welcome to Gilmore Girls Mondays!

Last weekend I watched the first two episodes of season one (yeah, I haven't had much time to watch more than that yet). It's been a few years since I watched the show so I didn't remember too much about it, aside from the basics. And that there were a lot of little jokes that you had to pay attention to catch. Which is, I believe, one of the best things about the show. I had a couple I shared on Twitter:

"People are particularly stupid today. I can't talk to any more of them."
"We like our internet slow. We can turn it on, walk around, do a little dance, make a sandwich."

What's funny is that the two of them are kinda perfect when it comes to me in real life. The first is for when I'm at work. There are certain days when I just can't stand the idea of picking up the phone one more time. The second is because it was a running joke back when my family had dial up internet years ago that we had enough time to make a sandwich while we wait. I never knew of anyone else who said that until then.

I love the relationship between Lorelei and Rory. It's so simple and real. Everything that goes on between Lorelei and her parents pretty much grates at me. I want to punch people who have that kind of attitude, you know?

I've only ever seen season one of this show, so I'm not sure all of what happens in the rest of the series yet. I'm hoping to be able to watch all of the first season again, and possibly the second and third. We'll see if I can get my hands on the rest. But hey! It's all good so far! ^_^

So, my lovely followers, do you like watching Gilmore Girls? Join in and watch with us!

  1. I love Gilmore Girls! I watched every episode until right at the end when I felt that things were getting a bit out of hand. Hope you rediscover everything you enjoyed about it. I love Rory and Lorelai's relationship as well. It's like they have their own language.

  3. I think the little jokes that you have to pay attention to catch are the best part too. It's smart in a way that a lot of other TV shows weren't/aren't. I'll admit there are some references I don't get, but the ones I do, particularly for things I really love, make me excited. I'm sure you must have said it before but somehow I missed that you had only ever seen season one! Wow...there is SO MUCH awesomeness to come.

    1. I love catching those little references, I think there may have been one or two that made sense to me this time around. I KNOW! When the show was originally on, I didn't watch the "primetime teen soaps". The first one I ever got into was The OC, and that one started a few years after Gilmore Girls. Then when I bought Season One, I had every intention of buying the second season so I could keep going, but I never did. That's what I get for being obsessed with so many different TV shows, lol!

    1. I know, right? I'm a TV junkie, so I blame my other obsessions for keeping me from this show! :P

  5. Oh gosh, I love Gilmore Girls. I've watched the whole series at least 5 times (my sister has watched it more than that even lol). If you have Half Price Books around you, you should check there for the other seasons. Ours always has them. Enjoy! :)

    1. Hahaha! That sounds like me with Veronica Mars. :P Looks like the closest one to me is about 3-4 hours away. There are a couple places around here that sell discounted TV on DVD, but it's hit or miss if they have something like this. Always worth a shot though!

  6. So happy you're watching with us, Jess! I remember the days of dial-up. *cringe* Now it's all so fast we complain if we have to wait a few seconds.

Oh, Michel. He never ever fails to crack me up because all he is is honest! haha.

    1. Oh man, I had to deal with dial-up longer than most people... It was like 2008 or 2009 when we finally got high speed!

YES! His honesty is the best! :D
