Alexia Hammond, broken and destroyed by a tragedy she can’t seem to recover from, is on a downward spiral toward destruction. A life of partying, alcohol, drugs and men has brought her near the edge of disaster. That is until one night while at work as a waitress in an upscale restaurant, she falls under the spell of one of her customers, Pearce Middleton. Once she gazes into his smoky gray eyes, her life takes on new meaning. But can she put her past behind her and allow herself to fall for the exciting and gorgeous Pearce, or will her lewd behavior come back to haunt her and ruin her chances of happiness forever?

My Thoughts:

I have enjoyed every book by A.M. Hargrove that I have picked up. They all are well written and have great story lines to them. So when she sent me a copy of a new book, written in a completely new category, one I am getting into lately, how could I NOT want to read it?

Alexia has been through the ringer in her life, she really has. She deserves better... and then Pearce enters into her life and everything changes for her. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and I have to say, it is intense. The way he cares for her, with everything she has gone through, it makes you adore him. And, well, he's just sexy anyways, so... *wink, wink*

I have to say, my only complaint is that everything happens too quickly. It works for this story, yes, but the whole jumping to the end of the story before the middle of the story can be told can sometimes get old. I suppose it goes back to the whole insta-love issue that most people have with books. Sometimes I'm okay with it, other times I want to punch things. I didn't want to punch things this time around though. Alexia and Pearce deserve a happily ever after, whether it happens super fast or at a slower pace.

Edge Of Disaster was well done in every way. A.M. Hargrove has stepped into New Adult and added a great story with everything: a deep back story, wonderful characters, and amazingly steamy romance. I could read some scenes over and over again. Mmm... Overall it was a very good book, I would definitely recommend it to those who like NA and are looking for something new to read.

  1. I'm loving this new adult category as well. Will have a to put this one on the TBR. I have to say it's refreshing to see the girl be the one with the lewd past for once!

    1. Oh yes! She also has another NA novel out too, and I still need to read that one. I never thought of that about the girl! :D

  2. A lot of people complain that new adult books don't have much actual story or character development, so I'm glad to see that's not the case here. I'll have to check this book out!

    1. Yep! There are a lot of them that are just all about the 'love' scenes and nothing more. It's a nice change of pace.
