I knew better than to risk my heart.
But fierce passion comes at a high price.

I grew up believing in right and wrong, good and evil, black and white. I knew better than to trust. And then I met Tyler Sharp.

Bold, charming, and dangerously sexy, Tyler always gets what he wants. But his smile can be deceiving, his dealings sordid, his ambitions ruthless. I thought I was the one woman strong enough to resist him, but our need for each other was too urgent to deny.

One look and I was in trouble. One touch and I was hooked. One night and I became his.

And now that I’ve fallen, there’s no going back.

My Thoughts:

Initially, I expected to be drawn in to this story. And I did get drawn in for the most part. However, it just didn't have the power over me like other books have, or other swoony men.

But there is a reason why: Insta-love... Sometimes I like it; sometimes, I just don't. It just depends on the characters and the reason for it. With Sloane and Tyler, it was just too fast. I will admit, their storyline was interesting, and there was some steam. Okay, there was a lotta steam. I couldn't stop reading, I just couldn't completely buy the romance.

Heated had the heat, even if it was more lust than love. If it was a more believable romance, I might have been a little more invested, but it was enjoyable just the same. J. Kenner writes a story quite well, to the point where I'd pick up another just for that.

  1. Hm. I don't know if it's the one for me. Insta-love is just so very hard for me. I can get into it usually a bit more when it's a para since that whole fated mates thing plays a part so much but in contemp it's so much harder to be convincing.

    1. It's a fine line for me in contemporary--some insta-love that works for others doesn't work for me and vice versa. It IS harder in that genre vs. others. I understand insta-lust, but when you jump to the love, well...
