An EXCLUSIVE prequel short story to the bestselling Cunningham Family romance series...

Meet Calder Cunningham: wicked billionaire and international playboy. He's about to come face-to-face with the one woman who will change everything...

This short story is a BONUS look inside the head of the leading man of the Cunningham Family series.

My Thoughts:

This was a short story about Calder when he first "meets" Lily. It's mostly taking place in his head, and what a lovely place is that to be in. I thoroughly enjoyed his perspective, his thoughts about Lily from a distance. Even though there was no interaction between the two of them, it was still a very nice story. It's good to find out these parts in more detail. Definitely enjoyed Ember Casey's Once Wicked.

Lazy eyes, scarred lip and brow, muscled and tattooed, Julia’s high school best friend, the one who made her heart go pitter-patter, had definitely changed in the past five years she hadn’t seen him.

Being stuck with her mom and boyfriend number one hundred at an exclusive ski resort doesn’t seem as daunting when Julia runs into the gorgeous and enticing Scar Wagner. And when fate forces the couple much closer than Julia would ever allow a man to be, she can’t help but wonder whether it’s time to give relationships another try.

After all, when things go wrong, they turn out right.

My Thoughts:

Great story by Lacey Silks to lead into the next! The chemistry between Julia and Scar is evident, something that's been there for each of them since they last saw each other. The two of them end up alone together where all their bottled up lust combusts into hot sex.

Very sexy, very sweet--When Things Go Wrong is the perfect beginning to draw me into Julia and Scar's lives. I need to know what happens when they meet again in the future. Can't wait to pick up Cheaters Anonymous!

Sex is the last thing on Spook’s mind, or he wishes it was.

Spook Mortensen has one rule when it comes to relationships: just say no. He has his reasons. Good reasons. His policy of total abstinence has kept him out of trouble for years. Sex ought to be the last thing on his mind, but whenever go-getting sound engineer Allegra Hutton shows up, she doesn’t just hijack his libido, she downright screws with it. The only way to deal with her is to tie her up.

Alle realises she’s upsetting Spook’s rhythm, but she’s under no illusion that he’s the right top to warm her bottom.

A Black Halo novella about an enigmatic rock star and the curvy woman who pushes his limits… over a table, in a limo, on the floor, and in bed.

My Thoughts:

I really tried to get into this story. In the beginning, there were a lot of questions running through my mind. I wanted to understand what made Spook tick--why he avoided sex and why he's so insistent on avoiding Alle even though he's clearly as attracted to her as she is to him. Nothing was explained, nothing was referred to or implied. I just kept getting more and more frustrated with the almost-not-quite relationship between Spook and Alle because I had no clue what was happening. It got to the point where it was painful to read, but I pushed through, skimming through a lot of it to see if I would be given some sort of explanation. When I hit the end, I had to do a double take because there was no resolution or anything. It didn't even feel like a HFN. It's possible that given this book is part of a series that there will be a clearer view of Spook's deal eventually (or at least I hope), but as of right now I have no interest in struggling through to find it.

  1. Oh man. Thanks for the heads up on Resistor. The ending would have had me pretty ticked I'm thinking. I hate that.
