Blind Date--A Surprise Release from Emma Hart!

A surprise release from Emma Hart just came out!

Blind dates are the work of the devil…

I’m a serial-one nighter, and my best friend is my inner slut.

He’s temptation personified, and his best friend is definitely his cock.

Carter Hughes gave me a taste of my own medicine. He wham, bam, thank you ma’amed me into oblivion, and I hell yes, oh God, right there’d him into paradise.

I thought that would be the end—until my mother’s double booking for a consultation winds me right back up at the place I swore I’d never go again. Now I’m fighting for an interior design contract I don’t even want... Just to make a point.

If I get it, the date won’t be the devil.

Carter Hughes will be.

(Disclaimer: BLIND DATE was originally published as a short story in the ONE anthology. It has now been expanded into a longish novella, approx. 47k words.)

About the Author
By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.

Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.

She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

I have a new blog design!

Hey look! I have a new blog design!

For a little while now I've been debating on getting a redesign on my blog. When I initially started Thoughts at One in the Morning, it was a mainly young adult blog. I occasionally read other books (adult and middle grade), but that was rare.

Over time, however, my tastes started to change. I slowly began reading a few contemporary romances and the new adult craze began and I was obsessed. Then I discovered the Entangled Brazen and Harlequin Blaze lines and, well, let's just say I became a romance junkie. So instead of rarely reading adult books, I was rarely reading YA.

https://thoughtsatoneinthemorning.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/thoughtsnew.jpg

As you can see above, the previous design looked a lot more YA. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved it. But it just wasn't the right fit for the books I read on the blog.

After chatting about it with a friend about it, I decided that it was time. I started browsing around on Etsy for a new design that felt more like me, and I came across this one from Shiny Magic Design. It was the purple that really got to me. Purple = a very Jessica color, and especially this shade. So I contacted Lynsey and got everything moving! (PS: If you're in the market for a new blog design, you should definitely get in touch with her--super great communication and excellent blog design skills.)

Something else that needed to be done (and badly) was the pages. I loved having the dropdown tabs, but a bunch of them over the last couple years became useless. I never updated the Giveaways tab and some of the others were just excessive and could be combined together. So, I went through everything and narrowed all of my tabs down to the minimum needed, merging a few together, and leaving some as hidden tabs linked within other tabs. And you know what? It feels a LOT better now.

I still have to rework some of my other stuff (like my signature, ratings, etc.) to match, but at least the blog in general looks more like me. ^_^

What do you think?

Review: Friction by Sawyer Bennett

At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

My Thoughts:

It's no secret that I adore every single Sawyer Bennett novel I pick up, but there are some times when you pick up a new one and it completely takes you by surprise. You're drawn into the world, swept up in the romance, and extraordinarily pleased when you reach the end.

This was one of those times.

Leary is representing someone she knows on a case that means everything to her. She'll stop at nothing to win, including throwing Reeve off his game. In her attempt to distract him, she finds herself distracted. They fall into an enemies-with-benefits sort of relationship (HOLY HOTNESS), one that neither of them wants to end. But there's still the fact that they're on opposite sides of an important case. Feelings develop while emotions are high. Leary and Reeve have everything to gain and everything to lose. And in this trial, there will be only one winner.

Friction was perfection--sultry, seductive, and sweet. My favorite aspect of the story was that their passion fueled secret relationship turns into something more real. Usually you don't see that happen until the end of a story, so it was nice to see Leary and Reeve admit it to each other instead of hiding it. If you're on the lookout for an extremely sexy book with a romance that will warm you to the core, this story is what you need.

What happens when your plus one becomes "the one"?

Holly Haggerty and Roth Esterly are two besties with everything in common--they're neighbors, career-driven, and commitment-phobes. Tired of always being set up on dates by well-meaning friends and family, they take matters into their own hands: they will be the other's plus one--a little friendly arrangement between friends.

Easy…until a steamy night where they cross the line. But that's okay, they'll add an addendum--one that includes a little action between the sheets…on top of the sheets…and without the sheets. But there are rules. Dating and sex are exclusive until one of them decides to terminate the agreement. No slumber parties. And if either party becomes emotionally involved they will break things off with no hard feelings.

When unexpected news changes their plans and turns their fun arrangement into something more serious, Holly and Roth must come to terms with what's more important--what they thought they wanted, or what they really need.

My Thoughts:

This story was so... freaking... good. I fell in love with Holly and Roth from the very beginning. They're best friends and neighbors, but they find themselves in a quandary where they need to stop people from trying to set them up with others. So they come to an agreement to go places together so that it seems like there's something more. They think they can keep this arrangement under wraps, keep it casual, but then they find themselves kissing one night. Since they're such great friends, how could a little bit of fun cause any problems? Only it does. And it leads Holly and Roth to where they need to figure out what the future holds for them and what they're willing to risk to get what they truly want.

A Friendly Arrangement is a lovely story. It was impossible not to notice the chemistry between Holly and Roth--how it was always just below the surface. Also, their friendship felt so grand to me, which made the transition from friends to lovers all the more enjoyable, not to mention natural. I am absolutely interested in reading more by Christine Warner!

Review: A Wrong Bed Christmas by Kimberly Van Meter and Liz Talley

The Wrong Bed—But the Right Guy!

Ignited by Kimberly Van Meter

What do you do when a sexy, naked fireman gets into your bed? If you're Alexis Matheson, you freak out. But now she's snowed in with Layton Davis, and suddenly Alexis's best intentions to behave seem to have disappeared up the chimney. Because a hot 'n' naughty firefighter in her bed might be the best Christmas surprise ever…

Where There's Smoke by Liz Talley

Emma Rose Brent is sure she's dreaming when Erik Matheson, her bestie's Überhot older brother—who she's been crushing on for years—mistakenly slips into her bed, all gloriously naked. But Emma must have been a very good girl this year, because she's been given the best gift of all: the chance to be really, really bad…

My Thoughts:

When I first glanced at this pretty, I didn't realize it was two stories in one. It was actually a very welcome surprise in my opinion. The two stories parallel each other, and they couldn't be more amazing!

In Kimberly Van Meter's Ignited, we have Alexis and Layton. She isn't supposed to be in the house when he accidentally climbs into bed with her. When her best friend and her brother leave them alone and they end up being snowed in together, they start to get to know each other, as friends and something much more. Alexis and Layton have this adorable charm together, and I loved watching their romance blossom.

In Liz Talley's Where There's Smoke, we have Emma and Erik (Alexis's best friend and brother). They head off in the snow and end up getting in an accident. After being unable to contact anyone on their phones, they go into an abandoned cabin not far from there for shelter, warmth, and food. For years Emma and Erik have had feelings for each other, and now that they're stuck together alone, they finally have the chance to see if they can have more.

Both books in A Wrong Bed Christmas were great! I loved how they happened alongside each other and that you could just feel yourself in the story. I'm so glad I had the chance to read these two stories!

Play. Or be played.

The music should be enough. End of story. But Aaron Major is finding out it's not, and now his agent has hired a firm of suits to help launch his debut album, turning his life into a goddamn circus. Smile here. Play there. Be nice. Well, screw that. If Aaron wanted to spend his time shaking hands and kissing babies, he would've gone into politics.

Helping launch the career of country singer Aaron Major should be a cakewalk for PR pro Melody Sharp. Aaron is charming, sexy, and oh-so-appealing when he's on stage. Off stage, though, he's her worst nightmare. A stubborn, ornery, reclusive nightmare without a lick of business-or fashion-sense. The only way he's going to make it in music is with a serious makeover-and quite possibly a personality transplant.

Soon, they're engaged in a game of give and take, and though it's Melody calling the shots, it's Aaron who holds all control...

My Thoughts:

I had a super fun time reading the first book in the Elite PR series, Caught, that I was anxiously awaiting book number two by Clare James. The first book had a race car driver, and this one had a country singer. Melody is put in charge of Aaron to get his career on track. The two of them have trouble getting along in the beginning, but after some unfortunate setbacks, they find themselves understanding each other better... and then crossing the line into some quite steamy moments. Once Melody is finished with her assignment, will she and Aaron continue their relationship?

Played is a lovely book, full of romance and heat. Melody and Aaron may have had a lot to learn, but they were great together. One of my favorite aspects to the book was the relationship Aaron had with his brother, Graham. It was beyond the sweetest thing ever, and made me fall more in love with Aaron. Cannot wait for the next book!
