Hello My Name Is... Giveaway Hop! [Jan 7-14]

my name is

Welcome to the Hello My Name Is... Giveaway Hop, hosted by Anna at The Herd Hops! This hop runs from January 7th through 14th. The point of this hop is to share fun things about ourselves and our blogs. So, here's some "fun facts" about Jessica and Thoughts!

~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~

1. I started this blog a little over five years ago on September 19th, but didn't really buckle down to write posts and reviews until months later. I consider March 21st to be my "official" blogoversary day since that's when I took the blog seriously.

2. I love lemurs. I follow the Duke Lemur Center on Facebook and whenever they post videos of lemurs, I'll watch and squee every single time. I almost cried when I saw the ring-tailed lemurs at the zoo for the first time. I've taken nearly 200 pictures of them on my camera.

3. When the Backstreet Boys and N*Sync were popular, I wasn't into them. I was the odd girl out in the mix when spending time with girl friends. But now? Totally love listening to them.

4. When I started Thoughts, I had no idea where it would lead me to. That I would still be running nearly five years later, that I would actually start writing, that I would make a bunch of amazing friends. It's been a wonderful journey, one I wouldn't trade for anything.

5. I worked 10 years as a pharmacy tech. I quit just a little over a year ago to lower the stress in my life. I'm now working a part-time gig that I really enjoy. I'm not making as much money, but I'm soooo much happier, so it was worth it.

    1. That's so cool! I started learning ASL years ago but didn't stick with it. It's something I've been wanting to get back to.

  2. I like quirky household items. Right now in my Amazon.com cart, I have a pair of oven mitts that look like bear paws. They're totally going to match me "bear feet" slippers. :)

  3. I've worked as an extra in 8 movies and 3 TV series. Hoping for the opportunity to do more this year.

    1. Cool! I know a few people who have done work as extras and I'd totally love to do it myself. Good luck this year!

    2. Thanks! And you should definitely give it a try at least once. :)

  4. In high school, I would make extra cash by singing in a recording studio. We'd record songs for elementary music curriculum.

  5. Odd ABOUT ME: I like syrup on my scrapple.
(Is it Inside Out or Upside Down? The cover image and the posted title/link didn't match. Just curious.)

    1. That's sweet! :D

It was supposed to be Upside Down. I must've clicked the wrong links! Ooops!

    1. Haha! YES! I'd do that, too, but I don't get many opportunities to sneak in reading. ;)

  7. I am ambidextrous…and, apparently, that's all what my balance and coordination skills can handle because I can't balance my gorgeous butt on a bike.

Ha! We odd ones out should've banded together. But while I was never into boy bands and thought Britney was a joke, for some reason I knew their songs by heart and could sing them perfectly.

    1. Sweet! I always wished I was ambidextrous. Especially last year when my wrist was strained and it was, of course, my writing hand. Lol.

OMG totally! Oddly enough, I did sort of like Britney, although I liked Christina better. ;)

    1. Same! I was always terrified of heights, but I could do rollercoasters no problem. I think it was because I was strapped in and secure. :P

  9. I love fresh flowers and blooming plants. My house is full of orchid plants, and I sometimes get them to rebloom.

    1. Oh cool! I've always wanted to get an orchid, but I don't know if I could take care of one. I could always start with something easier and go from there. :P

  10. I never learned to drive, but I do know how to ride a bike. It took 2 of my friends a whole day to teach me when I was a teen.

    1. I didn't learn to drive until I was almost 19 years old, didn't get my license until I was almost 20. I do enjoy riding bikes more, though! :)
