Countdown to trouble in 3…2…1…

Jenna Delaney has her life all mapped out—work, fiancé, financial plan. But when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, Jenna's best-laid plans disappear. Instead, she finds herself lip-locked with the hunkiest of all hot male strangers. And whoa, serious fireworks. The kind that make a girl plan on how to get best laid!

Rick Sinclair is blown away by the sheer force of their chemistry, especially when they end up at his borrowed high-tech "smart" apartment. Except that this apartment seems to know just how to set up a seduction…because suddenly Jenna is in Rick's bed. And this one breathless night could take them anywhere…

My Thoughts:

This story was a breath of fresh air! I had no idea what to expect when I picked it up, but it was a beautiful surprise. It starts with Jenna and her fiancé, Payton, at the annual James Bond themed New Year's Eve party they go to every single year. They run into an old friend of Payton's named Faith and her boyfriend Rick. Jenna had seen Rick from far away and nicknamed him Danger Bond. As the night goes on, Jenna and Rick find themselves watching from afar as her fiancé and his girlfriend kiss at midnight. Rick's solution? Kissing Jenna.

The two of them run off from their unfaithful significant others to get away from the disaster that the night turned out to be. It ends up being the best thing they could do because they spend the night in the same bed. Their chemistry is off the charts spectacular, but since they have different lives in different states, they know it's only a temporary thing. So over the months following their night together, they stay in touch as friends, then when they see each other in person they become intimate again. Is it enough for them for things to stay the way they are?

One Breathless Night was absolutely everything I could ask for in a novel. A spontaneous kiss followed by a steamy night between two people who never expected each other? My absolute favorite part of the story is that Rick is a storm chaser. Talk about a swoonworthy career, at least for me. I loved that aspect. And what started out as lust grew into a slow burn romance, which was amazingly great. I am all for reading more by Jo Leigh!
