Can't get enough Magic Mike? Let bestselling author Claire Kent introduce you to Matt Stokes, the sexy-as-sin male stripper and club owner who knows what it really means to bare everything.

Preschool teacher Elizabeth Marks isn't exactly thrilled to be attending a college friend's bachelorette party at a male strip joint. The sights—screaming women, half-naked hunks—are just as sleazy as she expected, with one exception: the man standing at the back, radiating sensual heat despite being fully clothed. When Elizabeth takes refuge outside, he chases her down and dares her to stay. It turns out that her mystery man is the owner—and, as tonight's headliner, the one guy Elizabeth wouldn't mind seeing naked.

Matt Stokes lives his life one day, one dance at a time. But as he challenges Elizabeth to get in touch with the passionate, impulsive woman behind her prim façade, she brings out another side of him as well. This girl isn't just another pretty face—or paying customer—and Matt can't help wanting more. Onstage, he's used to exposing his body. Now Matt will have to expose his heart. Because when it comes to real love, that's the one striptease that matters.

My Thoughts:

Being the huge Claire Kent and Noelle Adams fan that I am, the second I heard about this new book, I had to read it. The story is an intriguing premise, and it starts off in a way that makes you interested in more and curious where it will go next. Matt and Elizabeth are a great match as far as opposites go--he can break her out of her shell, although she's a tough one to crack. It doesn't take long for him to get to her, and for them to fall together. Their relationship has a deep passion to dangerously high levels of heat. But because of Elizabeth's family, reputation is the most important thing, and if she ruins it she could ruin her family.

Taking It Off is a romance where the sparks fly. I did enjoy the steam a lot, because Matt and Elizabeth definitely had it, but sometimes it became too much. It was hot, but I wanted more depth to them than what they had between the sheets. It was still a great story, low on the drama, high (VERY high) on the heat.

USA Today bestselling author Claire Kent continues her emotionally charged story of longing, betrayal, and insatiable desire as two lovers find themselves in a deadly standoff of seduction.

Kelly Watson got involved with mogul Caleb Marshall for all the wrong reasons: namely, to prove that he murdered her father twenty years ago. But Caleb is hotter than hell, the sex is mind-blowing, and Kelly’s afraid that she’s falling for him despite her chilling suspicions. Now, the more time she spends in his arms, the more she risks betraying her identity and losing her heart. The only way out is to discover the truth before Caleb figures out who she really is.

Caleb’s feelings for Kelly are taking him into uncharted territory, replacing his weakness for call girls and one-night stands with a hunger for something real. Still, the ruthless businessman in him can’t resist looking into Kelly’s background. When his investigation suggests that he’s not the only one with something to hide, Caleb is forced to decide if he can trust someone who’s been telling him lies. For the first time, Caleb understands how intimacy can be so tempting—and, in the wrong hands, so dangerous.

My Thoughts:

After the intriguing start to the Revenge Saga series by Claire Kent, one of my favorite authors, I was quite curious to see what would happen next for Kelly and Caleb and if they would get to the bottom of what really happened. At the start of the book, they're still where they left off--both of them wondering what's going on with the other and Kelly is continuing the charade of really caring for Caleb. Everyone is diving into the discovery of the truth--the REAL truth--of what happened to her father. Kelly is getting closer to an answer, but unfortunately Caleb is looking into who she really is. When the lies come to the surface along with the facts, there's nowhere for either of them to hide anymore. What will happen when they come out the other side?

Darker the Release was a mixture of emotion and intrigue. The first book definitely had the kick start that the series needed, but the second one was more focused on their hanging by a thread love story and sex life. I was hoping for more of a one-two punch to complete the series, and while it wasn't as exciting, it was still relatively satisfying. We got the answers we needed and the story wrapped up in a decent fashion.

In the first novel in USA Today bestselling author Claire Kent’s deeply sensual story of love, lust, and deception, a woman searching for the truth discovers that she’s sleeping with the enemy.

Portrait artist Kelly Watson keeps her relationships simple and steamy, with no strings attached. She’s had a hard time trusting other people since she was a child, when her father was murdered for trying to blow the whistle on corporate corruption. Nearly twenty years later, Kelly finds herself in the arms of a seductive stranger—the very same man who may have ordered her father’s death. And even as she plays him, using hot sex as a means to revenge, Kelly is tormented by one question: Is she committing the ultimate betrayal?

Caleb Marshall has spent decades forging a high-powered career, rejecting intimacy for the convenience of fast women and cheap thrills. But Kelly intrigues him, pushing commitment buttons he didn’t know he had. Still, something is wrong. Despite their physical and emotional chemistry, Caleb feels the fear inside of her. Now the only way to keep her safe is coming clean, before secrets and lies destroy their connection—no matter how deep, intense, and addictive it may be.

My Thoughts:

There are some authors on my "must get my hands on" list--Claire Kent is one of them. I'm usually consistently making grabby hands when I hear about something new. When I heard about this romantic suspense, I was very interested.

The storyline is intriguing--Kelly trying to get to the bottom of her father's murder by seducing the enemy, Caleb. I found myself flipping the pages, almost too quickly, because I wanted to see how she planned on doing this. All the while, my emotions are tied up in what all of this could mean for each of them. There is so much at stake, what with Kelly being intimate with the man who might be the one who killed her father... and then there's Caleb, oblivious to what Kelly is doing, wondering where her mind is.

Sweet the Sin is a book full of seductive intrigue, taking you beyond what you expected it to be. I can't imagine being in Kelly's position, or being that willing to put myself into it. When you reach the end, you're on pins and needles enough as it is and now you want the next book so that all the puzzle pieces can fit together. It kind of drives you a bit crazy, the idea of waiting. Can't wait for Darker the Release, book two in the Revenge Saga!

Excerpt

She couldnt remember the last time shed been so deeply attracted to a man. He wasnt even her type. He was too old for her—with a dusting of silver in his hair—and she normally preferred blue-collar types. Military men. Cops. Firefighters. Construction workers. Men with calloused hands.
Not like this guy at all.
“I know who you really are,” he said, easing even closer to her so that her breasts brushed lightly against his chest for a moment. “You believe in love, dont you?”
It was so far from the truth, Kelly almost laughed. She hadnt believed in love since her father was murdered. “You are so wrong about me, its not even funny. I bet I believe in love even less than you do.”
“What do you believe in, then?” He was touching her hair again, skimming the tips of his fingers down the length of one loose strand.
She could hardly believe he was a stranger. It felt like she knew him—all the way down to the core. “I believe in being self-sufficient, just like you do.” She leaned toward him just enough to graze her nipples against his shirt before she pulled back.
“Do you?” There was a slight flush to his cheeks now, and it looked like he was breathing more quickly. He was definitely turned on. Just as turned on as she was. “What else do you believe in?”
“I believe in seeing the world as it really is and not dreaming of romantic fairy tales, just like you do.” She knew this about him, as well as she knew it about herself.
She saw the affirmation in his eyes, mingling with the blaze of desire. “And what else?”
“And I believe in sex.” They were in a public park, but she didnt care. Responding to the challenge he posed, she slid one hand down his chest, then his belly, until she reached his groin, which she gave a brief caress.
She hadnt been wrong. He was aroused. Hard in his jeans.
His breath hitched at her touch, and she could see he was holding himself back. “What do you believe about sex?”
“I believe people can come together for mutual gratification without all the baggage the world has built up around it.”
“Ah,” he murmured thickly, settling one hand on the small of her back. “Free love, then? To go with the puppies and flowers?”
“Not love. Sex. Theres no overlap unless you make it so.”
I don’t make it so.” He pushed her hips toward his body until she could feel his arousal against her middle.
She was fighting to catch her breath, her pussy pulsing with desire, and her mind struggling to keep up with his quick wit. “Somehow, I knew that about you.”
“Ive met a lot of women who make such claims, but then theyre crying when I dont call them the next morning.”
“Ive met a lot of men who do the same thing.”
He shook his head, pushing his erection against her very slightly. To the people in the park, they must look like they were just hugging, but a hug was very far from what was going on between them.
To Kelly, it felt more like battle. And she liked it. A lot. She couldnt remember the last time she’d been this turned on, this invested in a conversation.
“So, you dont cry?” he asked, his brown eyes smoldering with lust, excitement, and intelligence.
“I havent cried since I was ten years old.”
That was true too. She hadnt cried since the months after her father died. Her whole world had changed that year.
“I still have no proof this is nothing but pretense on your side.”
“Because Im a woman? Because I have a sweet face? Youre old enough to know that appearances deceive. You can fuck me now, and Id never give you a second thought. Youd never hear from me again.”
“If I fuck you,” he murmured, “I promise youll think of me again.”
“Theres no way youre that good.”
“You shouldnt say such things. Youll only be proven wrong.”
“Your arrogance is astounding, but I still havent seen you follow through.”
“You want me to follow through?” It was a genuine question. She could see that he was waiting for an answer as he watched her, even through the growing desire.
“Oh, yeah.”
Shed had sex with strangers before. All shed ever had was sex with strangers. She didnt normally have sex on a Saturday morning in the park, but there was no good reason not to.
She wanted this man—like he was a challenge that must be met, a battle that must be won.
“Well see,” the man said, sounding faintly skeptical, as if he still didnt believe she took sex as casually as he did.
“See how, exactly?” She raised her eyebrows in a question, a call to action.
The man met the call, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the wooded area nearby. He snapped his fingers, and the dog stopped chewing his Frisbee and jumped to his feet to follow.
Kellys breath caught in her throat as they neared the trees. “The car might be more comfortable.”
“Im not going for comfort here.” His grip was firm and strong and authoritative as he pulled her after him.
She felt a wave of panic as they entered the trees, not at one of the trails, but in the thickly grown area closest to where theyd been standing.
The woods were dark, unknown, everything hidden—masking horrors she just couldnt face.
When theyd gone a few feet in, she couldnt make herself go any farther. She physically couldnt do it, yanking her hand out of the mans.
He turned around with a resigned expression. “Thats what I thought.”
He thought shed given up. He thought hed won.
But he wasnt going to win this, her phobia about the woods be damned. She grabbed his shoulders and pushed him against a large tree. “What did you think? That we would go deep in the woods where you could safely hide, where no one could ever see what we were doing? This is far enough.”
There was more risk of being discovered, this close to the edge of the woods. They would be out of sight, but not very far.
Kelly didnt care. The fear of being caught was far milder than her fear of going deeper into the woods. Even now, a chill had broken out on her skin, almost distracting her from her arousal.
Almost.

One afternoon. Two stubborn people. Five months into a just-sex relationship. Twenty-eight days until he leaves for London for good.

One wager. Two hours. Three words that cannot be spoken.

And, if he wins, she comes seven times.

Seven is a (standalone) erotic novella of 30,000 words.

My Thoughts:

Every time I pick up a book by Claire Kent, I'm captivated by the story. It doesn't matter if it's a full-length novel or a novella like this one, it's impossible not to love the story and the characters.

Owen and Amy believe that their relationship is temporary, and that they're both okay with this fact since they decided on it when everything started. You can feel the chemistry burning off the pages as you read their story and by the time you read the end, your heart is melting with the giddiness one can expect from a sweet little novella.

Seven is an unexpected gem in a sea of stories. From start to finish, I couldn't stop reading and I couldn't stop hoping for the happily ever after between Owen and Amy. The emotions leap off the page and you just sit there in wonder, pondering over what could be. Claire Kent, as usual, has done it again with this novella. And, as usual, I'm never going to stop reading her stories.

He spent years selling his body, having sex with women for money. He could please them better than anyone else.

Now he has only one woman to please.

He knows what to do with her body. He wants her, needs her, takes her--until she can't take any more.

But what they have is so much more than bodies moving together. He loves her, loves her, loves her.

He still doesn't always know how.

My Thoughts:

When Escorted was over, I didn't expect to see any more of the story. But I found out there was this little novella and I knew I had to read, especially when I found out it was going to be from Ander's perspective.

Ander is going through something and he isn't being upfront about it with Lori. She doesn't know what to do, what to say. You can feel the struggle he's going through, and you want so much to help him through it, whatever it is. Despite this, the two of them still have their remarkable passion... and once they pull through, you can feel the weight lifted.

Breaking is one of those heartbreakingly real stories. The feels are genuine, and so is the pain. I really liked seeing Ander and Lori's story continued, and I'm glad that Claire Kent told it to us. Although I don't expect any more of their story told, I love them enough to want to see more, and that shows how great the story really is.

On my last birthday, I made one vow for the year. Live with no regrets. Eleven months have passed, though, and nothing has changed. I still sleep alone, spend my life working, and never move out of my comfort zone.

Then the loss of my dog throws my whole life out of orbit, and I end up in bed with a very hot and slightly-too-young veterinarian, who has recently made a vow of his own. Live with no strings. Josh is more than happy to help me with the things I’ve been afraid to try. Semi-public sex. Spanking. Anal sex. He’s a willing partner for everything I’ve wondered about, as long as I don’t demand more.

He’s serious about his no-strings philosophy. As serious as I am about living with no regrets. I can’t help but fall for him, even though I know better. So my biggest regret might be a broken heart.

My Thoughts:

As always, Claire Kent's stories pack a punch and they dive right into everything in the first few chapters. Who needs build-up? Not me! Not with this story. It starts off strong and then builds up even MORE as the story goes on.

Leslie is someone I feel I have a bond with, being determined to make changes, living with no regrets. Throw in Josh, this guy you can't help but be drawn to. You know there's something below the surface with him, and even on the surface he's amazing. Put these two together and you have something combustible... and that can be in the good way and the bad way. But like any great romance, there's a lot more to the story.

No Regrets is a brilliantly told story. I loved how the characters were in their mid-late 30s--it added a little more to the plot for me, more depth, more understanding. Claire Kent never ceases to amaze or weave intricate romances that go further than initial attraction, and the stories so realistic in every way. As always... gonna keep picking up her work!

Excerpt:

I couldn’t stay on this park bench forever.

I hadn’t moved yet. I was still staring blindly at the dogs and people on the path when I noticed from the corner of my eye a man slowing down from a run and then jogging toward me.

Glancing over, I expected him to head past me toward the parking lot, but he seemed to be coming directly toward me.

When he got close, I realized it was Dr. Bennett.

He looked different than he had this morning. He wore a t-shirt and gym shorts, both wet with perspiration. His face and short brown hair were wet too. He’d obviously been running hard.

His eyes rested on me as he approached. Obviously, he’d recognized me. Before I’d recognized him.

“Hey,” he said, breathing heavily. “How are you doing?”

“Fine.”

It was a stupid question and a stupid answer, but that’s what people do. It was part of living in a civilized world. You made up nice-sounding lies and you said them to each other, instead of talking about how much the world sucked.

His face was flushed, and he was having trouble catching his breath. Bending at the waist, he rasped, “I better do a lap to cool down. I’ll be right back.”

“Okay.”

I had no idea why he’d bother coming back. We didn’t know each other. We had nothing to say to each other. And I wasn’t really in the mood for talking.

He’d killed my dog that morning, but I could hardly hold it against him.

He took a slow jog around the track and ended up back at the bench with a water bottle in his hand. His breathing was less ragged as he sat down beside me.

He didn’t say anything, and I felt a little strange. I didn’t know exactly what he expected from me. I certainly wasn’t going to cry on his shoulder, if that was what he was thinking.

So I just asked a casual question. “You’re done with your shift for the day?”

“Yeah. I got off at three.”

“Do you always come here to run afterwards?”

“Sometimes.” His vivid blue eyes rested on my face, searching or questioning or something. “It’s on the way home.”

“Have you lived in Lexington long?”

“I grew up here—in Versailles, actually. But I just moved back to the area.”

“Where were you before?”

“Vet school.”

“Oh.” I blinked, slightly surprised. I’d landed on his age as younger than me but still in his thirties, but he must be quite a bit younger if he was just out of vet school. “So you just got your degree?”

“Yeah.” As if he could see the surprise in my face, he added, “I started late. I didn’t go right after college.”

That made more sense. The conversation, as casual as it was, managed to distract me from thoughts of Polly, so I pursued it. “What were you doing before you went to vet school.”

He didn’t answer immediately, which prompted my curiosity. To take the edge off the silence, I said, “Bank robber? Computer hacker?”

He gave a low chuckle and smiled at me—not broadly, but it still transformed his face until he was almost unbearably attractive, even as sweaty as he was. “Nothing that exciting. I was in Chad.”

“Chad? In Africa?

“Yeah.”

“Wow.” My eyes widened in surprise. “What were you doing there?”

“International aid work. I started right after college and did it through most of my twenties. I was mostly in Chad and Sudan.”

“So what made you decide to be a vet instead?”

He gave a strange little shrug and looked away from me. “I couldn’t do it anymore. And animals…are different.”

I studied him, trying to read his expression, trying to interpret the paradoxically empty bitterness on his face. There was obviously more going on with him, but there was no reason to expect him to tell me.

There was no reason I needed to know.

“What do you do?” he asked, obviously trying to change the subject.

“Paralegal.”

“Who do you work for?”

We chatted for almost a half-hour, about my job, about how he was settling back into the area, about running—which I used to do, although not much recently.

Eventually, the perspiration had dried on his skin and his clothes, and we’d both faded into reflective silence.

I felt a little better—like I wasn’t on the verge of tears—but the thought of going home still filled my stomach with dread.

He’d been staring off in the distance, and he said without warning, “This morning was the first time I’ve had to do that.”

I glanced at him in surprise, realizing immediately what he was referring to. “Aren’t you supposed to be professional and distanced about the whole thing?”

“I guess. I thought I’d be able to keep the right perspective with animals, but it was harder than I thought. She seemed like a very sweet dog.”

I took a loud, ragged breath as emotion surged up. “She was.”

“I’m really sorry.”

“Thanks.” I took a few more breaths until I was in control again. “I really don’t want to go home.”

“Do you want to get a drink or something?”

I blinked. “Right now, you mean?”

“Yeah. Why not? I don’t want to go home either.”

I finally landed on an explanation for his mood. He seemed adrift, kind of lost, not emotional but torn in some way.

I wondered what he’d experienced in Chad. What it had done to him. Why he’d decided against working with people anymore.

Even yesterday, I would have said “no” to his invitation. For the last few months, I hadn’t done much of anything except go to work and take care of Polly. I hadn’t liked to leave her in the evenings.

It had been years since I’d had a drink with a guy I didn’t know, and this particular guy was too young for me anyway.

But it was just a drink. Nothing more. He wasn’t coming on to me. He was just being nice. And it would give me something to do with myself, other than go home to an apartment without Polly.

I felt a little better, talking to him. Like the world wasn’t about to pull me into some sort of black hole.

I remembered my vow, eleven months ago, on the day I’d turned thirty-eight.

I was supposed to be living with no regrets, and so far I hadn’t done a good job.

This would be something I wouldn’t have to regret.

“Okay,” I said. “Why not?”
