Music Monday #1 - "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles

Music Monday is a new feature over at Ramblings of a Daydreamer where we can talk about music. It can be any sort of music thing on your mind--a song or an artist or music you're listening to while reading or writing or anything else music related. Have fun with it! Just link back to Marie so others can join in. ^_^

I've always got music on my mind, so I'll probably be sharing whatever song has been stuck in my head recently. There's always a song stuck in my head. Enjoy!

Song of the Moment:
"Gravity" by Sara Bareilles

I first heard this song on a Bones fan video a couple years ago (back when I was obsessed with Bones). The emotion conveyed in this song, lyrics especially, drums up all sorts of feelings in me. It's so full of heartbreak and love at the same time. I like to have this one on a playlist while I'm writing. It's like this underlying tapestry of emotion that weaves into my words as I type.

.
Lyrics (chorus):

Set me free, leave me be.
I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.

So what kind of music is on your mind this week? ^_^

  1. I LOVE this idea. "Gravity," is one of my all time favorite songs. I discovered it on Sara's MySpace back just before the first album came out, and I fell in love with the song. That was also right as I was beginning a new relationship and that song kinda...got me through the rough patches. Ultimately, that relationship ended but my love for "Gravity" has never faded. It's SO beautiful and it gives me hope!

    1. That is so cool that you knew the song before the first album. :) I love it when a song makes you get through a difficult time, it shows the healing power of music. Ever since I posted this, I have not been able to get it out of my head again, but I don't mind. :P

  3. I tried to comment last night but my computer was giving me fits. Ugh. Anyway, I love you for participating! Hopefully we can get a few more people to join us as time goes.
I know a couple of Sara Bareilles's songs, but I wasn't familiar with this one. It's great. I can see this making it onto my regular playlist.

    1. I hope so too, it's a lot of fun! I could never run out of songs/artists to share.

I don't know too many by her, I have the album, but for some reason, I'm always buying albums for one song I love and never listening to the rest. I've been working on not doing that anymore because there are so many gems of songs out there if you just listen to them. :)
