When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

My Thoughts:

There's been hype about this book for awhile, and when the prospect of a possible movie came up, it got me to wondering what it is I'm missing out on. So I requested the book from the library and started reading... and couldn't stop reading... and then MY FEELS WERE BROKEN and I understood why everyone couldn't stop talking about it. The story is told in dual POV--in the present in Tate's POV and in the past up to the present in Miles's POV. It really adds to the story, learning slowly why Miles is the way he is.

So, the story. Tate's staying at her brother Corbin's apartment, and Miles, who is a friend of Corbin, lives across the hall. It starts innocent enough, with a strong attraction and a kiss. They realize, though, that a relationship is out of the question, but they don't want to stop what they started. So they begin an affair, meeting up in secret when they can. They believe they can handle their friendship as is, that nothing could wreck their arrangement. As time goes on it becomes clear that emotions are in play, even though that wasn't part of the deal and completely unexpected. The rules are in place for a reason, and when they get broken, will they be able to pick up the pieces?

Ugly Love is an absolutely amazing and gorgeously written novel. I anticipated some feels, but had no idea--none--how much the book would make me feel. You might become an emotional wreck after reading the book (I was literally sobbing like a freaking baby, and I'm fighting the tears from just thinking about the book!), but you won't regret it. Your heart is invested so deeply--and it breaks and gets put back together when you watch events unfold and learn about the past. The story is unbelievably gorgeous, and I can't wait to pick up another book by Colleen Hoover.
