He's never met a challenge he couldn't take...

Alexis Yeung did everything right....only to watch everything go horribly, horribly wrong. Broken and angry, Alexis high-tails it to Europe, determined to face the world on her own terms and without consequence. Which includes a mind-blowing night with a sexy, scarred stranger.

Except, embittered former pararescuer Luke Jackson isn't exactly a stranger. He's supposed to keep an eye on Alexis without her knowing. Ending up in bed together was definitely not the plan. Now he's chasing her (admittedly hot) ass across Europe, a game of cat and mouse that always ends with the two of them tangled up in the sheets.

Something in their scarred, damaged souls calls to each other. And God help them, the sex in unbelievably hot. But if Alexis discovers who Luke really is, he'll lose the one thing that makes him feel whole...

My Thoughts:

The first two books in the Out of Uniform series were AMAZING, so I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Alexis appears earlier in the series, and we learn about how she's unable to have children. This is what leads her to traveling. Luke is sent by Ryan to make sure that Alexis stays safe. He's supposed to just watch from a distance, but when she realizes he's following her, it leads them to actually meeting. They get a drink and then one thing leads to another... Luke knows he crossed a line and if Ryan knew what happened, he'd get his butt whooped. But he decides to stick with Alexis, keep her safe while she travels to where she needs to go. Before they know it, they're falling deep and the one secret Alexis doesn't know about why Luke is really there could shatter what they have.

His Lover to Protect is a great continuation to the series. I enjoyed how honest the story is with Alexis facing the fact that she'll never be able to have children and how it affects her because of her family. Also how much Luke cares even though following her was originally just a job. Katee Robert has done it again, and I couldn't have asked for anything better.
