Talking About Bookish Pet Peeves on Follow Friday #29

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to their pages and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends! Our featured bloggers are the following Fic Book Reviews & Lauren Gets Literal. Congrats to being featured this week! ^_^

Question: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

Biggest pet peeve. Well, I could probably go on forever about pet peeves in general... but when it comes to books, I'm going with stereotypical and overdone characters and situations. The girl who has no family because they all died, the girl who falls in love with a guy before he even breathes a word to her, the girl who has parents that are never home, the girl who can't choose between two guys, the girl who discovers her love interest has a deep dark secret but she's going to love him anyway even though he might kill her... I mean, YES, some of them work. It makes or breaks the story. But let's face it--this stuff is permeated in nearly every novel we see on the shelf these days. Thing is, I'll probably still read it. *sigh*

Happy Follow Friday my wonderful blogging friends! :)

Today's Question is something new, an activity. We want to see what you look like! Take a pic with you and your current read! Too shy? Boo! Just post a fun pic you want to share.

I almost didn't take a picture since I have wet hair at the moment. Lol. But here I am with my copy of Laurie Halse Anderson's Wintergirls (and a background of ponies, plushies, and books, lol):

Here's what I normally look like with dry hair (and in Sepia tone):

Q. If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

Jessica Darling (from Megan McCafferty's Jessica Darling series). And I'd serve... well, I don't cook... so I'd let her choose where I'd take her out to eat. Lol.

Happy Follow Friday my wonderful blogging friends! :)

Q.What superhero is your alter-ego?

A. Veronica Mars. She's a superhero of epic proportions. Kicking butt and taking names. Finding the truth, being herself, telling it like it is no matter how someone will react to it.

Oh, and back when I used to hang out with a certain group, everyone got given a certain superhero type personality and they chose Rogue for me.

Happy Follow Friday my lovelies!

Congrats to being featured this week! ^_^

Q.If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why?

A. Gah! Something I have to think about... (one moment)... Aha! Gossip Girl (TV show) meets Kathy Reich's Temperance Brennan series--OR--Bones (TV show) meets Cecily von Ziegesar's Gossip Girl series. Why? Isn't it obvious? It would be awesome. Murder mysteries plus a bunch of gossiping socialites with bonus catfights and real fights? I call that good television, or, good books.

Happy Follow Friday!!!

Q.If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be?

A. That's a lot of answers!!! Okay, here goes:

Books--Anne Shirley in Anne Of Green Gables. Flip Hunter from And Both Were Young.
Movies--Catherine Morland in Northanger Abbey (since I haven't read the book).
Television--Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl (FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, please refer to picture). And also I would be Veronica Mars. That is a nickname I was given by a friend because I resemble her in much of her attitude, PLUS I drive a LeBaron.

Happy Follow Friday!!!

Congrats to being featured this week! ^_^

Q. What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character?

A. Oooh, well, I have been wanting to see the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty done, and it will be apparently according to Megan's Facebook page. So... that probably doesn't count. Lol. There are so many I could go with... I still have a soft spot for Madeleine L'Engle's And Both Were Young. It's just so cute and romantic. I love it. It's my go-to extremely sweet romance. Who would I cast as Flip? That's a toughie. I have no idea. Get back to me on that one. :P

Happy Follow Friday!

Congrats to being featured this week! ^_^

Q. Do you have a favorite series that you read over and over again? Tell us a bit about it and why you keep on revisiting it?

I don't think I've read a series over and over again. The only one I can think would qualify is Anne Of Green Gables because I believe I read the first four books at least a couple times over, and the first probably more than that. I think most people know about it... if not... click this link! Otherwise, I haven't had a chance to reread many of my favorites!

How about you? Happy Follow Friday! <3

Q. It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

Today I'm feeling like being part of the Gossip Girl world. I can't think of any other alternate reality that appeals at the moment. I want to go to swanky parties and wear cocktail dresses and high heels and drink champagne... and date Chuck Bass... BUT that's beside the point. Actually, that may be the point. I'm not even sure anymore. Yes. I am obsessed.

That's an interesting question! I'm gonna have to say no, and that's because I don't like villains. I want to punch villains. Bad boys on the other hand... *swoon*

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? And, why?

A. Change a book, eh? Well, there are some books that had these awful endings where somebody important dies and it's really upsetting. I'm not going to say which though because I do not want to ruin a good book. Yes, I said Good Book. Because, despite my sadness, the books meant something outside of the sadness. Sometimes you wish you could rewrite things, but, for the most part, you can't help but want them to stay the same.

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

Oooh my...... Although my paranormal interests started with vampires, and if you asked me a couple years ago I may have answered that... but now, I believe I'd like to see a fairy. Just something about them. :)

Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

Wow. I'd love to be in Anne Of Green Gables time. Be best friends with Anne Shirley. Or, maybe just good friends. I wouldn't want to steal her away from Diana. Either that, or if we would go modern, I'd be in the Temperance Brennan novels by Kathy Reichs, helping solve crimes and getting justice.

Follow Friday #16

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to their pages and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. How has your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently?

Well, when I was a literal teen, I wasn't doing much reading at all. I think I may have read only a handful of books. I read a few for school, but didn't do much reading for fun. Near the tail end of my teenage years, when I was 19 (which technically is a teen, but really an adult), I was beginning to get into reading again. I read fluffy novels for the most part, teen romances and some coming of age. I still like reading some fluffy books, but I've expanded quite a range since that includes many intense books, ones that keep you up at night. New genres that I enjoy now that I had no idea about back then would be Paranormal Romance and Dystopian.

Follow Friday #15

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to their pages and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

Over the years I've had a falling out here and there with some friends. One time though (several years ago), it was entirely my fault for my reaction to something. I shouldn't have opened my mouth and said what I said. Even though it was true, that person didn't deserve my opinion being thrown on them like that. My reaction was not kind, and I was unwilling to accept my role in the way things were prior to the argument. So, we ended up not talking for a long time.

Then I was reading the book Just Listen by Sarah Dessen and realized that I was just like Annabel was with her friend Clarke. The one part near the end where they're talking about what went wrong between the two of them, Clarke basically says that Annabel didn't try to mend things with her. She only spoke to her once, then never again. I ended up taking that to heart, if I don't TRY to mend the fence, I'm not a nice person. About 9 months later I went up to her at a wedding reception we were both invited to and made small talk, then dragged her out on the dance floor with me for a silly song. After that, I apologized for being a jerk. We're not best friends or anything now, but we don't not talk to each other. And that makes me feel good about myself.

Q. Let's step away from books for a second and get personal. What T-Shirt slogan best describes you?

There was a shirt I saw in a catalog once a long time ago and wish I could have bought, but I was too late. It said on it "Take A Hike". The reason why I wanted it so much was because that was my first sentence. I kid you not. My first full sentence when I was a little tot was "Take a hike." This thanks to my dad, who would constantly say that jokingly to everyone, including me (he would always say stuff that's could be taken seriously as a joke). I'd look for a picture of the shirt, but I doubt I'd find it (I don't trust links to pictures I find on Google anymore either).

Follow Friday #13

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to their pages and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

1. Ellen Hopkins
2. Ellen Schreiber
3. Judy Blume

The why... Ellen Hopkins writes in verse and tackles tough issues and everything flows beautifully. Ellen Schreiber writes the cutest stories, and by cutest I mean that her sense of humor flows throughout and it doesn't take away from the story, it adds to it. Judy Blume writes everything for everyone and is brilliant.

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. What do I do when I are not reading?

A: Oh my goodness... I spend my free time writing (either my novel or poetry) and watching TV on DVD marathons. Current obsession (as most of you probably know) is Gossip Girl. Other obsessions include Bones, How I Met Your Mother, and The Big Bang Theory. Oh, and I work full time as a pharmacy technician. Going on 7 years now. Sometimes I do crafty stuff--crocheting and painting and bracelet making. I collect My Little Ponies and Kitty In My Pockets. That's about it. ^_^

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?

Worst book, eh? What If... All the Boys Wanted You by Liz Ruckdeschel, Sara James I don't know what it was, but navigating that book was pure torture. I don't like those books that bounce around like that, where you choose what happens next. That and books written in Instant Messages and Emails. I find them annoying.

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books.

This week’s question isn’t a question at all! I thought I would do things a little differently this week and give all of you a chance to promote a giveaway (or two!) from the blogosphere.
The catch?
IT CAN’T BE YOUR OWN GIVEAWAY!
Gotcha!
You have to find another blogger who is having a giveaway and promote their giveaway for them! If possible, promote a giveaway from a blogger doing the Hop (hey, you are visiting other blogs anyway, right?). Have fun with this one! It’s not an easy task this week! :)

Oh goodness! Here's two... Christy @ The Reader Bee is giving away a SIGNED copy of The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. You can enter to win The Goddess Test here! (US only on that one, ends July 14th) AND... At Reading Angel you can enter to win a book for adults or young adults. Fill out the form (there are two forms and you can do both!), pick out a book. There are too many books to list here, so go check out the Help Me Pick Giveaway over there! (this one is international)

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

Oh my... latest obsession: Chuck Bass/Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl! My first reaction...? "HOLY CRAP IT'S CHUCK BASS! I mean, ED WESTWICK!" That, or I'd probably just pass out... or forget how to breathe, then pass out. Or tackle him in some huge hug.

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books.

What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Hmm. Good writing, interesting dialogue, funny/dynamic characters. It's usually the writer's voice that makes or breaks the beginning. And by the same token, poor writing, lame dialogue, crappy/stupid characters. And if I can't get into the writer's style of writing.
