Book #1 in Samantha Chase’s popular Montgomery series

There’s no time like the present… Unless you’re still running from your past

Executive assistant Emma Taylor is desperate for a little time away; away from her job, her life and from thoughts of her boss’s son who doesn’t seem to know she even exists. Tired of waiting for the time to be right, she takes advantage of her boss’s generous offer for a little weekend getaway to thank her for helping out with a difficult business deal.

Former NFL superstar Lucas Montgomery is still suffering from a career-ending injury. His self-imposed exile from life is exactly what he wants; a sanctuary where there’s no chance for disappointment or distractions and that’s exactly the way he likes it. While his family has been patiently waiting for Lucas to come around and embrace life once again, they don’t realize that it wasn’t just his career that was lost, but his sense of identity.

Lucas thought everything was fine until sweet, sexy and completely off-limits Emma Taylor comes crashing into his carefully constructed world one snowy weekend and turns his entire life upside down.

My Thoughts:

A snowed in love story? Gimme gimme gimme! I started reading this one and fell for the premise instantly, then fell for Emma and Lucas. The two of them have an attraction that has been there for awhile. Since Lucas has been hiding himself away from the world, his father decides to send Emma his way in an attempt to bring him back to normal civilization. His plan gets them together during a blizzard that ends up being much worse than originally anticipated. Emma and Lucas are stuck together for a long time, and their desires begin to take over. Once things are back to normal post-snowstorm, someone is going to have to speak up before they lose each other forever.

Wait for Me is one of the sweetest little love stories. Two people being snowed in together while fighting their feelings makes for one of my absolute favorite cozy reads. Emma and Lucas are both stubborn, but they care. It takes some time for them to learn how to meet halfway, to really get to know each other and understand, but they're willing to try. Definitely a great book to start The Montgomery Brothers series by Samantha Chase!

All work and no play...

...would make Jason Montgomery a very happy man. Ever since his brother had married a woman who worked for their company, Jason has been walking around fending off the unwanted advances of all of the single women in his employ. Now, with a make or break business expansion in the works, the last thing he needs is a hands-on assistant who wants to get her hands on him!

For three years Maggie Barrett has happily hid in the shadows of Montgomery's. After dealing with her own unwanted advances from her previous employer, staying under the radar was working just fine for her. But now she's thrown into the spotlight as Jason's assistant because he believes her to be a safe choice because she's married.

The only problem?

She's not.

Working in close proximity wasn't supposed to be an issue. The lines of their relationship were clearly defined. But when a mutual respect turns into a mutual attraction how will Maggie explain that the only thing holding Jason back was just a little white lie?

Book two in The Montgomery Brothers Trilogy, "Trust in Me" is a 45,000 word contemporary romance novella. See where it all began with Lucas and Emma's story in book one, "Wait for Me".

My Thoughts:

When I discovered the premise behind this one, I was already sitting at the edge of my seat. It's one of those stories where in your head you're just fighting the urge to freak out over the chemistry between the two main characters because of the whole "pretending to be married" thing. Maggie's background as to why she chose to fake being married makes you empathize majorly. Jason is glad to have Maggie as an assistant since she's already married. That way they can both focus on the job. Unfortunately for them, the attraction is too strong and Jason is fighting an epic battle to be the good guy while Maggie is trying to keep up appearances. When the truth comes out, all bets are off.

Trust in Me was so cute and engaging. It tore me up watching the two of them struggle with their feelings for weeks. Lucas and Maggie's chemistry pulls you in and you never want to let go of the idea of them together. You can feel the pain they're both facing, and your heart goes out to them. I thought it was an amazing and realistic portrayal of such a tough dilemma. This is the second book in The Montgomery Brothers series I've read, and it most certainly won't be the last by Samantha Chase!

  1. These both sound so cute. On a hot summer day a book about being snowed in might cool things off. But the romance will warm things back up. ;)

  2. Oh my gosh. I LOVED snowed in themes. That's one of my favorites. Something about them just feels a little magical? I'll have to give her a try some day. I can't believe I've not tried her yet.

    1. Snowed in stories are favorites of mine, too! I was surprised I hadn't read anything by her yet, but I'm glad I was able to. :)
