In My Mailbox #18: March Edition

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

It's where we post about the latest books we've purchased, gotten from the library, or received for review... it doesn't necessarily have to be ones you got in the mail. Although a lot of mine DO come from my mailbox. :)

I went Nook Book crazy, mostly because I have a gift card and it's easy to go overboard when you do. Plus I needed some of these hard copies for the sake of my library and my incessant need to read books NOT on my challenges, LOL. I won't be finishing my TBR pile challenge this year for sure! A couple of these were for my reference section, and HOLY MOLY are they ginormous books.

In My Mailbox #17: February Edition

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

HOLY MOLY, I was a good girl this month. Wow. I didn't get any Nook books and didn't win any books. I nearly rounded out my Clique series collection, and I filled the bookish part of my Castle obsession by getting the first book related to the series. I *really* want to read it next, but I kind of want to wait until I go on vacation this year and read it then.

Amazon, B&N, Online Store, or Other Store:

The Pretty Committee Strikes Back by Lisi Harrison
Heat Wave by Richard Castle
Forensics and Fiction by D.P. Lyle
Howdunit Police Procedure & Investigation by Lee Lofland

In My Mailbox #14: Monthly Edition (for November)

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

It's where we post about the latest books we've purchased, gotten from the library, or received for review... it doesn't necessarily have to be ones you got in the mail. Although a lot of mine DO come from my mailbox. :)

One thing I can say about November's purchases is that I took advantage of amazing deals! Especially the Nook Books. I just have to tell my fellow bloggers, if you like the way one of them sounds, check for your e-reader and see if they're still on sale, because they had great prices! I also snatched up several books on writing from a super sale on the Writer's Digest site.

I was a good girl last month, didn't spend much. And a lucky girl too apparently since I won 2 books! Woot!!! How does that happen? I never win things! Plus I started to do NetGalley, which isn't going too well. My Nook and these PDF's are not working right. So I have to read on the computer instead, which is going to be annoying. We'll see how it goes. (Unless someone can help me get it to work on my Nook)

PHEW! That took way too long. But at least this is everything from literally a month ago. Makes me feel less... crazy? I did get all those Nook books for cheap, some of them might still be on sale in case somebody else is wanting one. ^_^ And it was the first contest I won so far! So it's been good for me book-wise this last month. I did put back at least 3 or 4 books while at Borders. I didn't go too overboard, even though I wanted to. I'm excited to have Twenty Boy Summer finally--I can read it during Banned Books Week!

How was YOUR week/month? Link me up, I'd like to see!

It's where we post about the latest books we've purchased, gotten from the library, or received for review... it doesn't necessarily have to be ones you got in the mail. Although a lot of mine DO come from my mailbox. :)

I'm posting this early since I wasn't able to post anything earlier this morning, just in case the same thing happens again tomorrow..... This week, I decided to purchase 3 books for my Nook. (and downloaded 3 samples... I may or may not purchase them, we'll see)

And they are...

I really enjoyed My Blood Approves. I hope I can get a review written up tonight or tomorrow while I've got it in my mind still. Sometimes books run together. I shouldn't be reading 4 or 5 at once though. I can't help it.

This week there was only ONE book that came in the mail, although I was expecting two. In any case, here is what I got:

I can't help myself... all these interesting dystopians out there and I'm going nuts wanting them all! I actually got the paperback and not the e-book. And looking through it is really cool, because it's not your normal paperback copy of a book from some big name publisher (because I'm pretty sure it's not, but don't quote me). It feels more... real. Like there's something more to it than it just being some book, you know? This is coming from someone who would love to see a book she writes in print (that would be amazing).

Anyways, what did you get in your mailbox this week?

This week was a dull one, very dull, since I only got 2 books for my Nook. I feel the need to cut back on purchases for the sake of catching up, at least for a couple weeks.

Here are those two lovely books I purchased:

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Apothecary's Daughter by Julie Klassen

I have yet to finish one book on my Nook... so I must hold back. Time to get caught up so I can get more books!!!

In My Mailbox #6

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I got one package in the mail this week, a spur of the moment cart fill up so I could get a good deal on a TV on DVD set (Gossip Girl season 1, I never watched the show since we didn't get the station when it started--the ironic thing is, I only read the first book and couldn't get into it, maybe if I tried it again I could now).

What did I get?

Here's what came in my literal mailbox:

Plus I got 4 Get Fuzzy books: Get Fuzzy 2 Fuzzy Logic, The Get Fuzzy Experience, Say Cheesy, and Scrum Bums. I am such a nerd. But I love it!

Here's what I got for my Nook:

Fateful by Cheri Schmidt (Fateful #1)
Never Say Never by Kelly Mooney
The Case Of Tangled Love by Jason Ancona (Covert Youth Agency #1)
Butterfly by Jodi Bullock
The Other Boy by Hailey Abbott
Unlovable by Sherri Gammon

Oh my goodness! I almost forgot about my trip to the library... I got a bunch of books there.

Tourist Trap by Emma Harrison
Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder
Fallout by Ellen Hopkins (this one I am most excited about, I can't believe it's taken me so long to get my hands on it)
Charmed And Dangerous by Lisi Harrison (A Clique Prequel)
Lovesick by Jake Coburn
Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs
The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson
The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
Extraordinary by Nancy Werlin

I can't believe I almost forgot to tell about those! I need to wake up more before I post, lol. That or prepare it the night before when I'm awake.

It's been a good week! ^_^ What did everyone else get this week?

In My Mailbox #5

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I got three packages in the mail, and, thanks to getting my Nook on Friday, and purchasing books to download, I have a little bit of stuff to report...

What did I get?

Here's what came in my literal mailbox:

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick
Carlotta's Kittens by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

The last one completes my collection of The Cat Pack. ^_^ I've got an idea for a post to discuss that later.

Here's what I got for my Nook:

I played it cheap to start. There are some books I do want, but I would prefer to have them as real books. ^_^ I have to say, my Nook is awesome. There are so many books that you just can't get otherwise and I can't wait to experience them.

I also downloaded a few samples of books people have been raving about. If I end up downloading them or borrowing them from the library, you'll hear about them then. ;)

Follow Friday # 5, Book Blogger Hop #2, & In My Mailbox #4

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?

Apparently I only read about 1-3 books per week, depending on my time. 99% of the time I read a hard copy of a book, although I do have a few e-books on my laptop. I am probably going to buy a Nook soon though, because there are a lot of e-books I'd like to check out that are only available in that format.

To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Host { Parajunkee.com } and any one else you want to follow on the list
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers - Louise @ Book Bliss
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments
  5. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  7. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books.

This week's question:

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?"

Wow... I don't know how many I've even seen. I've seen all 3 of the Anne Of Green Gables movies--the first was the only one that did the books justice, the other two, oh please don't get me started. As far as current movies go, the only ones I've seen and read books of are the Twilight series. The first one was hardly like the book (except in a handful of ways), and the 2nd and 3rd were much MUCH closer to the book. I think this means I need to read more books that get adapted to movies. ^_^

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I got one package in the mail (even though I have a couple more coming, they're just delaying and will be revealed next week).

What did I get?

Dylan by Lisi Harrison
Endless Summer by Jennifer Echols
Polo's Mother by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor (book 4 from The Cat Pack series)
Anne Of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery (finishing my collection of the Anne Of Green Gables series of books!)

Happy FF and BBH everyone! I'm off to work.

Book Blogger Hop #1, Follow Friday #4, & In My Mailbox #3

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books.

This week's question:

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"

My answer: Anne Of Green Gables on Prince Edward Island ANYWHERE. I grew up loving the book, loving the scenes from the movie, it was all just amazingly beautiful. All the time in the world to do anything.

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends!

Q. It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...

1. I love watching TV on DVD. I own literally over 50 different seasons. My favorites include Bones (side note: what a finale last night, right?!), How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Veronica Mars, The Simpsons, Scrubs, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I've been known to have marathons where I watch whole seasons within a few days.

2. I collect My Little Ponies, Kitty In My Pockets, plushies, and various other toys. I feel it keeps me connected with my childhood, and keeps my inner child going.

3. Aside from cats, my favorite animal is a lemur and I want nothing more than to have one as a pet as soon as it's possible. They are absolutely adorable.

4. I have had an obsession with Billy Joel since I was 16. I have memorized practically every song, including "We Didn't Start The Fire". Recently I've been popping random albums into my car's CD player to listen to on my way to work. (Most recent: Glass Houses, specifically because "Sleeping With The Television On" was stuck in my head)

5. I love slapstick and silly comedy. Anything from Saturday Night Live, Mel Brooks, The Red Green Show, Homestarrunner.com, YouTube Poops of Mario and Zelda games... I could watch them and laugh all day long.

I received a package from Barnes & Noble and one from Amazon. Got some bargain books AND some newer books that I've been wanting for awhile. I also got a couple books for future giveaways, but I won't be sharing those in this feature today, since they're not for me. I will reveal those soon enough, just you wait!

So... what did I get?

Sealed With A Diss by Lisi Harrison
Dial L For Loser by Lisi Harrison
Before I Die by Jenny Downham
Matched by Ally Condie
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Bumped by Megan McCafferty

As you can see, I got anxious to get into the other dytopian worlds. Can you blame me? I'm almost done with my library books, so I should be able to get these going very soon!

Follow Friday #2 and In My Mailbox #2

Alright! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and is a way for book bloggers to get to know each other better. Just go to her page and follow the directions, and you'll be making some new friends! This week's blogger is Al @ Magnet 4 Books.

Q. Circle time! Time to share. What character in a book would you most like to be, what character in a book would you most like to date?

Oh my! What a question... give me a minute... okay, after much deliberation staring at my shelves and holding a battle in my mind, I've decided to be an old school romantic. I would like to be Flip from And Both Were Young by Madeleine L'Engle, and the character I would like to date would be Paul from the same novel. Flip (or Philippa, I love that name!) is real and brave and kind. And Paul is sweet and believes in you and talks to you. All the wonderful things you want in another person. *sigh*

This week, I didn't buy any books, but I DID go to the library as I mentioned yesterday. Here's what I got!

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols
A Tale Of Two Pretties by Lisi Harrison
Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Time You Let Me In: 25 poets under 25
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

I've read two of them already, working on the rest. I only have two more weeks, unless I want to renew, which I have the tendency to do depending on how many books I borrow, lol.

That's all for today folks! Expect a review or two this weekend if I have a moment to post one.
