~*As for me...*~

Well, I opened a new Etsy shop for my photography! It's just simply called Jess Sankiewicz Photos (mostly because that was what fit for a username, lol). So, favorite my shop please! There isn't much on there yet, only four 8x10 photos, but there are a bunch of 5x7's that I'll be putting up next month.

Here's a taste of what I've got on there:

That is my absolutely lovely model and BFF 'Roxanne'. We're actually long overdue for another photo shoot, and with fall being here, I really hope we can manage to squeeze one in because FALL COVER SHOOT STUFF TYPE THINGS. The colors and the shading. We're supposed to hang on Monday so *fingers crossed* that the weather is decent!

On October 27th 2014, it was the one year anniversary/book birthday for my first published novel, If Only We! It's kind of exciting and exhilarating to think about. It really doesn't feel like it's been that long. I've got a Goodreads giveaway going for a paperback copy of If Only We, so be sure to enter if you're interested in winning one.

I mean, you know you want to. ;)

Otherwise, not much else happening over here!

And that's about it! I hope everyone's been having a great year!

Wedding hookups never amount to anything.

Those who partake in this wicked little activity know the rules. Get in. Get laid. Get out. There's no expectation of a relationship. It is what it is.

Dylan Sparks knows the rules. She’s familiar with the protocol. And she engages in the best sex of her life with a complete stranger at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding.

Reese Carroll doesn’t care about the rules. He wants more than just one night with Dylan. And he’s too addicting to pass up.

Sweet Addiction is the story of one girl’s struggle to keep things casual, and one boy’s desire to never let her go.

My Thoughts:

I snagged this one up at random after seeing a post about the book on a blog somewhere. I thought, why not, sounds sexy. Is it? Oh, quite. I liked this one very much.

For Dylan and Reese, it's lust at first sight. Then comes some misunderstandings along with a whole lot of back and forth trying to figure out what's going on. But, it intrigued me enough to keep going until pretty soon, I couldn't stop reading. I wanted to see if they could get past the errors and the assumptions. And then there was the passion between them--you couldn't deny it, and you enjoyed it, very much so.

Sweet Addiction was fairly addicting. I enjoyed the romance and I enjoyed the friendships that Dylan had. I'm intrigued enough by Dylan and Reese to see what J. Daniels in store for them in the second book, Sweet Possession.

Review: Made for You by Lauren Layne

Some mistakes are worth making...

Lauren Layne's Best Mistake series continues with MADE FOR YOU.

When the Wrong Guy is Oh-So-Right Will Thatcher is exactly the type of sexy playboy good girls like Brynn have always avoided. And yet there was still something about him she just couldn't resist. When Will moved across the country three years ago, Brynn vowed it was time to put him behind her. She never thought Will might have other plans . . . Back in town, Will intends to get what he's always wanted-gorgeous, unforgettable Brynn. For years, he tormented the untouchable ice princess in a desperate bid for her attention. Now he has a new plan, and he'll do anything to rewrite their stormy past. This time, he's out to show Brynn that the imperfect man might be the best mistake of her life . . .

My Thoughts:

We got to meet both Will and Brynn in the first The Best Mistake book, Only With You (which I loved). There were little snippets following their storyline, which ended in a "must find out what happens" fashion. So, thank goodness for book #2!

Brynn keeps trying to stay away from Will, but she can't help but be drawn to him. He's so clearly perfect for her, yet she can't completely give in. I found myself quite annoyed with her throughout, hoping and wishing she would realize what she had right in front of her. Will is determined to prove to her what they mean to each other. Her ridiculousness might keep her from having a happily ever after if she's not careful, though.

Made for You was a lovely story giving us a very satisfying conclusion to Will and Brynn's story. I found myself on the edge of my seat, sitting there with fingers crossed and needing to know that everything happens the way it should. Lauren Layne is high up on my 'snag a copy of the latest' list. I can't wait to see what's next. If there's another book in this series (which I'm hoping there will be), it will be in my hands, er, on my Nook.

Excerpt

“What’s wrong?”

She waited to answer me, keeping her gaze glued to the sky. “I can’t find Draco.”

I looked up again. There were no stars to be seen. The black of night was completely covered by the dull gray of low coastal clouds.

She took in a shaky breath and then shot me a look before her eyes darted away like skittish birds. “You told me that Draco is always in the sky—no matter what time of night, no matter where you are in the northern hemisphere. You can always find it. But I can’t see it tonight. What does that mean?”
I reached out and touched her smooth, cool cheek with the back of my knuckles. She was trembling so slightly that it was almost impossible to notice. “You can’t see Draco because you can’t see any stars tonight. It’s the marine layer.”

The breath shivered out between her lips and she closed her eyes. I continued to stroke her cheek. “I want to see it. I need to see it.”

“You just have to trust me. You can’t see it, but it’s there, I promise. Do you trust me?”

Her head sank as she lay back flat on the sand. I bent over her, looking upside down into her eyes. Our gazes locked. Suddenly it was hard to breathe. I stroked her cheek again. Her eyelids fluttered like butterfly wings. She was as delicate as one of them. As fragile. And I’d never thought of her in those terms before.

She was vulnerable. And in many ways she was at the mercy of everyone around her. Including me. My throat tightened.

She watched me for long moments, reaching up and hooking her hand around my neck as if afraid I would pull away. “You know what I love most about your eyes?” she asked.

I frowned, confused at the abrupt change of subject.

Her thumb moved across the back of my neck and I tried to ignore the tingling her light touch evoked. I wanted to pull her hand away but she was so breakable.

“They are so beautiful—your eyes. And so different.”

I sighed, tried to laugh it off. Emilia’s intensity was unusual but not surprising. It didn’t take a genius to understand why she’d be feeling somber tonight. “Men don’t like being called beautiful…”

She grimaced at me and I saw a glimpse of my Mia return. “Whatever. Deal with it. Your eyes are beautiful. In a totally manly way, of course.”

I smiled but didn’t reply.

She tightened the clamp of her hand around my neck, pulling me closer to her. Our eyes were inches from each other but I didn’t look away though intensity of her gaze made me feel like I was staring into a 1000-watt spotlight.

“They are so dark, so mysterious. I used to think of them as curtains, or shutters. To close off what was going on inside. But tonight I think of them as…mirrors. Reflecting everything. I can see myself in there.”

My breath stuttered a little. “Oh…” I answered in the smallest whisper that seemed to get swallowed up in the ambient sounds around us, the regular lap of the water on the shore, the distant hiss of the freeway even in the early morning. “Oh, you’re in there, Mia. You are most definitely in there.”

And then without thinking, just feeling, my mouth sank to hers. I was bent over her, our heads facing different ways, my top lip sealed over her bottom lip, and she opened to me and I tasted her. I was kissing her upside down. And this kiss held more than passion, more than a declaration of desire. It held love. My love. Her love. They collided like waves crashing against a barrier that prevented them from meeting. Like that rugged, unmovable jetty that protected the harbor from the worst of the weather on the south-facing coast.

“Spider-man kisses,” she murmured against my mouth. I kissed her chin, her cheeks and the tip of her nose. She referred to the famous kiss Spider-man shared with Mary Jane in the first Marvel movie. Completely unaware that Spider-man was her next-door neighbor, Peter Parker, Mary Jane had peeled back his mask from the bottom half of his face and passionately kissed him in the rain as he dangled upside down from his web. Spider-man kisses.

But was I as disguised to her as Peter Parker had been from Mary Jane? In many ways, I was. I wore a mask because this wasn’t the time for us to deal with all the bullshit that had gone on between us. My lies. Her lies. Our respective secrets. They’d created that barrier between our hearts and there was no telling if they were surmountable.

A thin, silvery tear leaked from the corner of her eye. I pretended not to notice, pulling back, stroking her cheek.

“I’m sorry…for everything,” she whispered.

“I know. I’m sorry for everything too.”

She rested her hand lightly on mine, like she wasn’t sure if I would pull away. “Kyle, it’s always been you.”

I missed this. The simple things, like holding her hand. The way she flipped her hair over her shoulder. The glint in her green eyes when she laughed at something I said. The freckles on her cute nose peeking out from under her makeup. The softness of her red lips, the delicate curve of her neck, the swell of her breasts…

I looked away, clearing my throat. “Alexis, what do you want from me?”

Her hand tightened around mine. “Three years ago, I made a huge mistake. It killed me to break up with you, and I’ve regretted it ever since. I should have tried to make it work long distance, but I messed up.” Her voice trembled, but she went on. “I know you’ll probably never forgive me for what I did, and I don’t blame you. All I want now is a second chance to try to make it up to you. To do something different this time. To prove I never stopped loving you.”

Her words woke up something within me—a memory of what we used to be and a spark of hope for what we might be again. “I am happy to see you,” I admitted, referring to what she’d said in the car. “But why should I believe anything will be different this time?”

She raised her free hand to my cheek. “Because I’ve changed. I’m not afraid to be who I am anymore. I’m not afraid to fight for what I want. Who I want.”

I wanted, more than anything, to believe her. I leaned into her touch, staring at the girl I had always loved, who said she still loved me. I didn’t take my eyes off her as she trailed her fingers down, along my stubble, tracing my jaw. Her touch was soft but direct, like she was exploring the changes in my face since she’d last seen me. I held completely still. I didn’t blink. I didn’t breathe. If I moved, I’d break the spell over both of us.

Her fingers skimmed down my neck, and she laid her hand against my chest, digging her fingers into my Joy Division T-shirt where it said, Love Will Tear Us Apart. She was already so close, her thigh pressed against mine in the tiny booth, her strawberry-and-spice scent tickling my nose with each breath. Being with her again was so familiar, so comfortable, so right. I couldn’t stop myself from moving closer, resting my hand on the curve of her shoulder, lowering my head to hers. I closed my eyes, savoring that instant before our mouths met, before everything changed between us and there was no going back.

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

A proposition leads to compromising positions...
Journalist Stasia Grant needs a hero. Specifically one who will help her humiliate her ex-husband after he publicly left her for another woman. In Vegas for the biggest interview of her career, Stasia is grappling with a broken heart, her cheating ex (and the other woman), and a serious need for revenge. Her salvation comes from the most unlikely place― charming and sexy-as-all-get-out action star Evan Stone. After spending his life playing a superhero, Evan has a plan for delicious satisfaction: a fake, week-long engagement. He'll not only show Stasia's ex what he's missing but gain some sympathetic publicity to turn around his image as a player. It's win-win for them both. But neither expected the sizzling chemistry that erupts whenever they're together. Stepping out for the paparazzi, Stasia and Evan are about to pull off the performance of a lifetime...but will they fall for their own con?

My Thoughts:

THIS BOOK. I mean... THIS BOOK. (That's better...) I'm not gonna joke around here. You know how there are certain books that are up there on your list of favorite books. Well, this one has become one of my latest and greatest must-get-my-hands-on books the day it's released because... well... let me tell you why.

The premise alone had me hooked, but it was the way the story was developed that drew me in. Stasia pulled me into her world instantly--the emotion behind the divorce had me clutching my heart for her. Evan's reaction and subsequent plan just pulled me in further. The two of them have this heartwarming spark between them. It's going to be temporary, but, hey, they're gonna make the most of it. And they do. And it's even better than they realized. So much so, that they're not sure what's next anymore, for themselves and each other.

Tempting Her Fake Fiancé was one of the sweetest and sexiest novels ever. I could read and reread it indefinitely. I loved how Julie Patricka brought everything together in such a short period of time, not only the romance, but outside factors as well. Like the sweet little scene with Evan and his little fan. Oh, swoon. You must must must pick this one up. Snag it up now. RIGHT NOW.

“Did you need something?”

“Just this . . .” I frame her face with my palms and brush my lips on hers. She sucks in a breath, her eyes fluttering shut. She grabs the front of my shirt as she sags forward, like her legs can’t hold her up anymore. Slipping one arm around her waist, I pull her curvy, soft body flush against my hard one, my lips still on hers.

Fuck yes! The buzz is still there. We were both young when we shared our first kiss, but this. This is different. Time hasn’t erased the connection between us. My heart recognizes her, beating to a rhythm that’s only hers.

Pulling back, I stare at the face that has lived in my head for years. Haunting me. Comforting me. Her eyes slowly open, and she blinks, looking dazed. She presses her fingers on her lips.

“You kissed me,” she whispers, as if it’s the most unusual thing. Does she not get kissed often? Her lips were made for kissing, and I can’t get my greedy eyes off them.

I tip my head to the side. “I did,” I say, pressing my thumb on her bottom lip, inching up to the labret. Her mouth parts slightly. I could kiss her again, slip my tongue past those delectable lips. Taste her. Really taste her.

“Goodbye, Sophie.” I drop my hand and turn to leave, then stop. “Nice tattoo, by the way. A butterfly.” I emphasize the last word to get a reaction. Nothing.

“Mr. Van R--Rafael. Do we know each other?”

Christ, the way she says my name has every part of my body straining, wanting to hear her say it again.

“Do we?” I lift a brow.
Her frown deepens, and her bewitching eyes, smoky after the shared semi-kiss, narrow at me.

I’m not about to tell her. I need to find out why she can’t remember me first. “Drive safely, Sophie.” I turn, and stride back to Simone’s music room. I feel her eyes on my back, my shoulders, my ass. I let her have her fill. I’m not going to deny her--and me--this chance. I’m selfish, but hey, she needs the image to go along with the kiss. Right before I turn the corner, she takes a loud, deep breath.

Damn right, Butterfly.

Release Blitz: More Than Words by Lilly Avalon

Welcome to the More Than Words by Lilly Avalon release blitz!

More Than Words
by Lilly Avalon
Publication Date: October 24, 2014
All of her friends know her as Dana Darling, the clean romance writer. She's never written a steamy novel, not even in her head, but now her publisher needs her to write one. It doesn't appear too difficult at first, but then Dana's lack of sexual knowledge creates writer's block.

That's where her friend Landon comes in. She needs pointers on positions and dirty talk, and he owes her a favor. They agree that it's strictly business and clothes are mandatory, but once they get to work, it's another story entirely... one that's being written between the sheets and not on paper.

*More Than Words is a standalone erotica novella*

Excerpt

He takes a swig of his beer, then sets it down, leaning in to me. His topaz eyes peer into mine. “So, you're asking me to be your pretend sex partner with clothes on.”

My heart skips a beat at his words and nearness. “I wouldn't describe it like that.”

“That's how I'm going to describe it.” He smirks. “Why me?”

“You were the one who said you owed me, so...” I shrug and give him doe eyes.

“You don't have a boyfriend who can assist you?”

I laugh. “I'm flattered that you think I have a boyfriend.”

He scratches his forehead. “I thought you did. Evan?”

“That guy is long gone.”

“Oh.” He relaxes and it almost seems like he's relieved to hear this. “Okay then. So you have a week to finish writing this.”

“Yes.”

“And you want to practice moves to inspire scenes for the story.”

“Yes.”

“You can't go by past experience?”

I don't want to get into my lack of position experience, so I just say, “It's not fresh enough in my mind to put to paper.”

He runs his fingers through his dirty-blond hair, eyes curiously locked with mine. “What do you think, that I'm some sexual dynamo who can teach you from some sort of surface lesson? Sex Positions 101?”

“Well, yeah. You're more advanced than me.”

“I'm intermediate.”

“Please, you're an expert compared to me.”

“You don't even know that...yet.”

Tasty Promo Tour: Sweet Texas Series by Candis Terry

Sweet, Texas Series Anything But Sweet, Sweetest Mistake & Something Sweeter: Sweet, Texas # 1 - 3
By: Candis Terry
Avon

Anything But Sweet

HE’S STUBBORN AND THOROUGHLY MALE . . .

If Charlotte Brooks thinks she and her TV makeover show can turn Reno Wilder’s hometown upside down, he’ll be happy to prove her wrong. The x-Marine has seen too much turmoil and he likes Sweet, Texas, just the way it is. Traditional. Familiar. A little dull. Everything Charli isn’t. But instead of backing off from his scowls like everyone else, Charli digs in her skyscraper heels.

SHE’S TENACIOUS AND WICKEDLY TEMPTING . . .

Reno Wilder is a one-man unwelcoming committee, but Charli isn’t budging. It’s clear the gorgeous cowboy needs an overhaul just as much as Sweet. Someone needs to break him out of that gruff shell and show him how fun and rewarding a little change can be.

THEY’RE ABOUT TO FIND THAT LOVE IS ANYTHING BUT PREDICTABLE.

Sweetest Mistake

WHEN FRIENDS BECOME LOVERS . . .

Firefighter and former Marine Jackson Wilder has tough guy down to an art, but he’s learned the hard way that promises were made to be broken. Abigail Morgan was once his best friend, his first kiss, his first love, his first everything. He’d just forgotten to mention all that to her and she blew out of his life. Five years later, she’s back and he’s battling a load of mistrust for her disappearing act. But for some reason he just can’t keep his lips—or his hands—to himself.

IT CAN LEAD TO DISASTER OR . . .

When her stint as a trophy wife abruptly ends, Abby returns home to Sweet, Texas, and comes face-to-face with Jackson—her biggest and sexiest mistake. Time and distance did nothing to squash her love for the act-first-think-later stubborn hunk of a man, and when he suggests they renew their old just-friends vow, Abby realizes she wants more. She’d cut and run once. Could she do it again? Or could she tempt him enough to break his promise?

THE SWEETEST MISTAKE.

Something Sweeter

The men in Texas are hard to resist . . .
Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the whole “’til death do us part” thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn’t expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her “true love doesn’t exist” theory all to hell.

And they always promise . . .

Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet’s favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and
knows she’s a handful of trouble he can’t deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?

Author Info

Candis Terry was born and raised near the sunny beaches of Southern California and now makes her home on an Idaho farm. She’s experienced life in such diverse ways as working in a Hollywood recording studio to chasing down wayward steers. Only one thing has remained the same: her passion for writing stories about relationships, the push and pull in the search for love, and the security one finds in their own happily ever after.
